Wichita State University’s Applied Technology Acceleration Institute (ATAI) will play a lead role at the upcoming Water 2.0 Data Analytics for the Water Industry Conference.

The conference is spearheaded by the Water Innovations Alliance Foundation (WIAF), an organization that promotes the development of water technologies and innovations. ATAI is a co-sponsor of the event with companies such as GE, Duke Energy and Watercura®.

Water 2.0 will focus on the use of data analytics, software and cyber security for water utilities. Those in attendance will include water and energy industry authorities, utility professionals and representatives from the EPA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ATAI recently hired Vincent Caprio, Founder and Executive Director of the Water Innovations Alliance Foundation, as a consultant to help with the institute’s impact on water and energy industries. Caprio is the conference chair for the Water 2.0 Conference and will give the opening remarks for the event.

“The collaboration between ATAI and WIAF has already yielded results,” said Caprio. “ATAI’s participation in our Water 2.0 Conference introduces them to a whole new group of water industry professionals.”

Ken Russell, Executive Director of ATAI, will also speak at the event in November and hopes to expand the conversation about the connection between water, land and energy.

“The ATAI works to bring proven technology solutions to the municipal water industry in order to help utilities work smarter and upgrade systems effectively,” said Russell. “Challenges facing the nation’s water infrastructure are extremely difficult and complex, and ATAI is dedicated to informing the public about emerging water technologies, which can play a critical role in maintaining and repairing the nation’s outdated water infrastructure.”

Before working at WSU, Russell was the director of intellectual capital and organization strategist for Cisco Systems. He is co-author of “Social Knowledge: Organizational Currencies in the New Knowledge Economy.”
